Is a person “saved” when they read the Bible and know a lot of verses by memory?

I am not good at memorizing!  Whether it was math fact or verb tenses, I struggled to keep these items in my memory.
When my dear friend started teaching my children songs for Bible verses, it was an ah-ha moment!  Now I could learn memory verses easily.

Annie’s memorized Psalm 23. Annie is 2 1/2 years old in this video. Her brother Owen has it memorized too, but he had itchy allergy eyes at the time.

I really want to start learning memory verses.but i’m horrible at memorizing them any ideas?
